For a safer motorcycle Europe
PiNine new motorcycle training programs have been awarded the European Quality Mark for Motorcyclist Training. Among them are the Cyprus Motorcycle Federation and the Hellenic Motorcycle Institute. It is about for initiative, co-chaired by the European Motorcycle Manufacturers Association (ACEM), the International Motorcycle Federation (FIM) and the German Road Safety Council (DVR).
The programs that were awarded are the following:
- “The importance of protective equipment – Accident risk assessment – Development of driving skills”. This is a program offered by the Cyprus Motorcycle Federation
- “Tips for driving high requirements”. This is a program offered by the Hellenic Motothesis Motorcycle Institute
- “Safe Driving Seminar” and “Advanced Safe Driving Seminar”: These are two programs offered by the Italian Motorcyclists Federation (FMI)
- “Safer riding – motorcycle training”: This is a program offered by PRP, the Portuguese Federation for the Prevention of Road Accidents
These training programs have received the temporary European Quality Mark for Motorcyclist Training, which is valid for a period of 12 months.
This title certifies that the aforementioned training programs are of high quality, oriented to road safety based on program testing and initial evaluation.
Once the COVID-19 measures allow it, an on-site assessment will be carried out by DVR security experts.

The aim of the European Quality Label for Motorcyclist Training is to encourage drivers to volunteer and have regular safety training. “This encourages us to keep working every day to make Europe’s roads safer.”
Damiano Zamana, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the International Motorcycling Federation (FIM):FIM considers lifelong learning necessary to improve the safety of motorcyclists. One of the goals of FIM is to provide certified high quality training programs after obtaining a driver’s license.
“We are pleased to see our members in Italy and Cyprus actively involved in the provision of training programs.”
“At the same time, in Portugal and Greece, the cooperation between the winners and our members is an example of excellent practice for driver safety. “FIM will continue to support high quality training programs for all motorcyclists.”
Please note that the European Motorcycle Training Quality Label is a program introduced in 2016 and is run by the European Motorcycle Manufacturers Association (ACEM), the International Motorcycle Federation (FIM) and the German Road Safety Council (DVR).
It is a voluntary certification program for training programs in matters of motorcycle riding safety after obtaining a driving license, open to all training centers.
It is mainly aimed at helping motorcyclists to distinguish the best training options in Europe after obtaining a driving license
So far the mark has been given to a total of 35 training programs in Austria, Belgium, Cyprus, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, the Netherlands, Portugal, Spain and Sweden.
In 2019, the European Commission awarded the European Road Safety Charter Prize in the category of “voluntary commitments” to the European Motorcycle Training Quality Label.
This award rewards innovative initiatives that inspire and contribute to improving road safety and saving lives on the streets of Europe.
